#CHCEMERGE
The past few days have been emerge week. What is emerge? A movement birthed from City Harvest Church to inspire and empower the youths to use their God-given talents to make a difference in their society. :) Technically, I'm still a youth because I'm below the age of 25, but for this year, emerge focused a lot on the STUDENTS that are under the age of 25.. So I kind of felt a bit left out. I'm not here nor there. Nevertheless, I went for the daily night sessions @ church.
The sessions really make me want to reach out to even more people around me, but here's the thing - when you start work, your circle of people you come into contact with is limited, especially when you job don't require you to meet clients. That's why the best time to reach out is when you are in your campuses, you get all the chance to meet new people from your CCA from your different classes. I never had good experience in any schools I went to.. but then again, it isn't THAT horrible. It's just that I never had really close friends besides the few from secondary school. The other people are almost strangers to me. Hence, my circle of people I talk to really is very little.
Nevertheless, I'm really pumped up to help especially the students in my cg to reach out to their friends and bring a whole new wave of revival to CHC! :) The three nights were exciting, especially for the youths. Everything was so happening, so hyped up! Besides all the cheers from the people that went for the camp, from the praise and worship to the word and everything, it is so relevant!
On the first night, Pastor Tan shared about getting our priorities right. I think it is the perfect Word to set of the whole emerge movement. People these days have their priorities the wrong way round. Our priorities are also upside down because of the world that we live in. Students have to really put their studies first because if they do not study, they do not have a good future. But the thing here is this - nothing wrong with thinking your studies are important, as long as your good grades are not your idol. And when you take your studies as your god, you are actually de-grading God and you dehumanize yourself because you were created to be like God, and you become like what you worship, so if you worship studies, you dehumanize yourself to be not God-like.
(Okay I'm gonna go real quick now or else everything will be very lenghty)
On the second night, Pastor Kong shared about how God is a missionary God, and that we are on His misson to preach the gospel to the lost. On the third night, Pastor Kong shared about us being holy, and to really think like how God would think.
Yesterday, Pastor Kong shared about engaging the campus in different ways and the 5 spheres of campus: Church, relationship, leadership, acadamic, partying and pleasure. And how we should go on and ace that area of our life. This word I thought was quire relevant to everyone and not only to the students.
Besides all these, we also had some CRAZY partying! It was really madness I can't believe like it really is so high in a church. They played songs like Don't You Worry Child and all.. Like woah. The music is good, but too noisy for my liking. I only listen to those clubbing songs when I'm angry. HAHA. Anyway, it was really fun and inspiring the past few days. Now it is time to put what we have learnt into action. Let's go all out to reach out and bring a whole new wave of revival to CHC and to Singapore! Amen!
