Zoo. Probably something that I have been constantly mentioning about if you have been reading my facebook and twitter. And yes, I'm working at the zoo now. But it's kind of funny every time when you tell people that you work at zoo, people will think that you are a zookeeper. NO, I AM NOT! I think a zookeeper's job is.. disgusting. I mean they clean the animals and their poop. Nuff said. So I joined Singapore Zoo as this role which is known as PlayCrew. Which means I work at the KidzWorld in the zoo and yeah.. So as a part of the staff in the zoo, I have to know the zoo thoroughly right? That's why we all have to go through this one day of 'training' which is known as First Light. Basically it's like what the primary school children do, you have a booklet, you go around answering questions. So apparently we are paid for it and I'm super lucky because some people only had like 2 hour for their first light and they have to do it alone. But for me, my First Light was the whole day (930am to about 430 pm this also means that I'm being paid for the whole day) and I had company. So, I took the chance as a trip to the zoo after like almost 10 years after not walking around the zoo. But the best hting is that I not only walk around the zoo, I also gotta go to River Safari. So that's pretty cool.
Yeah, I came in prepared. Hahah, but my partner wasn't prepared though. He came in jeans and polo tee. I pity him :/ Hahah! So I happily walked around with insect repellent, crop top and my oh-too-cool shades! And of course, if you know me you know that I'll take photos. Indeed I did. Loads of them actually. I came to a conclusion about some of my favourite animals at the zoo. The first one would be this..
Isn't it cute? I am actually not sure about the name (how can I!!!!) but all I know is that it looks so pretty. It's like a cat and leopard mix. So that's cool. If only this thing can be kept at home, I don't mind. Secondly, the Giant Sea Otter. I saw it at River Safari.. which, let me tell you, that place is way too cool.
Here it is, it looks weird here. But I can't snap a proper photo cause it was swimming too quickly. ): But anyway, otters are cute. And really smart. Just talk about the way they build those dams. They're really born builders. And of course one of the other cutest animal that can be found in River Safari - GIANT PANDA!
Okay, this is weird. But I've officially seen the 4 olympics panda. Two in Singapore: Jia Jia, Kai Kai. And also 2 in Taipei: Tuan Tuan, Yuan Yuan. Mwahaha. I think I am kinda kiasu.. but whatever lah! The pandas in Singapore have a better life I think. And seriously, Kai Kai (the one in the photo above) is super obscene. Sit until like that! Jia Jia, however, is more shy.. She was eating her food when I walked past. So didn't have much photo opportunity.
Also, after watching running man, I can't resist but to take a photo with the giraffe. I remember I captioned this photo 'I TOOK A PIC WITH KWANGSOO!' Hahaha! I think I'm pretty lame. (that means pretty + lame)
Other really cool animals I saw? This GIANT fish. I am not sure if the fish is REALLY so big or probably it is the effect of the glass, but this fish is.. HUGE.
I had a hard time taking photo with this fish cause it was swimming around and it won't stay still, so I kinda gotta chase after it and stand there and just nice it swim over I'll snap the pic! LOL. At River Safari, we also watched the animal presentation and I actually touched a HEDGEHOG! Gosh, it is the cutest thing ever. How does it feel like? Uhm... The plastic brush that you use to scrub the toilet floor or walls.
During the presentation, the animals were epic! Hahaha. they didn't want to go back to their home, the fly the wrong side and all. But it is seriously funny. Hehe. So after all the River Safari and Zoo walking, I actually went to Night Safari. Well, it was after my First Light.. I went back to look for my friends at KidzWorld and we went to Night Safari together. I'm actually so kiasu and everything. I have never been to Night Safari before... So we started with candlelight dinner...
There were also some really cool performances going on while we are eating. So that's cool. Good company and good performance. :)
I'm being kiasu again, but I'm so fascinated by these performances. Heheh. And so I went to Night Safari with Debra my new friend and Zender the zookeeper. Hahaha.
So this is Debra :) I didn't have a picture with Zender.. But nevermind! :D
Anyway, if you're asking me what kind of thing I do in the zoo? Well, I either do ticketing, operate the carousel or I am the water safety officer. Which till date, I've only done the water safety officer part and for both of the days I worked, I GOT WET! It's fun lah, especially when it is SO HOT and all you want to do is to get wet! Hahah! I can't wait to do ticketing or to operate the carousel! :D
Also, I really love the morning air and the view at the zoo. It's like away from the city. I love it.
Ohyeah, I really also want to thank God that I got into the AZ District Youth Band! (: The auditions were really scary though. Hahah, I'm glad I made it. So yup, that's all from me now. Till I blog again!
bye!
