How To Develop Your Gifts by Joyce Meyer

1. Focus on the strengths God gave you.
Concentrating on your strengths will help you fulfill the calling God has out on your life. Focusing on the negative will only lead you to thinking you are a failure and you would not appreciate what God has for you. Everyone have strengths, but it might not be in the same field. Your friend might be good at sports but you are good at music; Probably not sports or music, you are good at relating to people, always making people laugh. There has got to be something good about you.

2. Exercise your gift.
Find something you like to do & that you do well, & do it over & over again. Want to know what will happen? You will feel better about yourself because you won’t be constantly failing. You will feel good about yourself and the strength that you have, you will start to appreciate the little things that God has blessed you with. In the bible, it says in 1 Peter 4:10, that 'as each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God'. We have to use our gifts and talents that God has given us to go on and bless other people and help others.

3. Have the courage to be different.
Unhappiness comes when you try to be like everyone else rather than embracing the unique person that you are. You are unique in your own way and God created you to be the one and only in the world, "there is nobody that is youer than you", as Dr Seuss says! Being a christian sometimes makes you stand out from the crowd, but that is being unique in a good way too! You are called out of everyone to be the salt of the earth and light of the world, so go out there and SHINE ON, BE DIFFERENT!

4. Learn to cope with criticism.
Have enough confidence in who you are in Christ that you can listen to others & be open to change without feeling you have to agree with their viewpoint or attain their approval. People may criticize you, but you have to be sure, be rooted in the Word of God. Knowing that you are a child of God and that trials and tribulations are only to make you stronger. Be deeply rooted in Christ and nothing will blow you off. Jesus, during His ministry on earth, has also been criticized, has been mocked at, has been spat on and the worst of all - being nailed to the cross. But did He cope with it? Of course! He said "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34) So we have to learn to be more Christ-like, forgive readily and forget easily. Have a BIG HEART!

God has planted greatness in you. Let today be the beginning of a great adventure as you step into the gifts He’s given you. Do not give up no matter what trials may come your way, have FAITH!
